The Room Where it Happens

How can we keep leveling up care for our patients?
Recently, we’ve implemented a designated time once a month for all of our doctors to discuss complex cases in what we’re (very simply) calling “Complex Case Conference”.
I want you to imagine a room where we’ve got a full hour set aside for brilliant physicians presenting cases and other brilliant physicians spitballing innovative, outside-of-the-box treatments, imaging, and labs.
In this room are also our pre-med medical assistants ADVOCATING for these complex patients, but also learning what it means to work as a collective and how best to listen to their patient's needs in crafting care plans.
In other words, these conferences are MAGIC.
I can’t help but think of that song from the musical Hamilton called “The Room Where It Happens” (yes, Dr. Rubin is not the only musical theatre nerd in our office!).
Our conference room is the room where it happens.

We are connecting dots, fighting for our patients, and making sure that we are thinking as a team (and outsourcing when we need to!) to give our patients the best care possible.
You’re all on our minds, and your care continues beyond our time with you in the exam room.
That’s all for now,
Grace Hauer
Medical assistant and patient advocate
